Loop spaces, configuration spaces and finite type invariants I

We start with giving a construction of the space of conformal
blocks based on representations of affine Lie algebras and show
that it can also be described by means of the homology of local
systems on configuration spaces. As a consequence we compare
monodromy of KZ equation and LKB type representations of the
braid group.
