We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to second-order elliptic equations under small perturbations of Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions by Robin conditions on shrinking subsets of the boundary.

We derive general asymptotic expansions and define a notion of Robin–Dirichlet or Robin–Neumann capacity to characterize the intensity of the perturbation. Their relationship with classical capacities and the role of the Robin parameter (the admittance) are also investigated.
