Growth of genus in towers of curves over finite fields

Résumé :
We will give an overview of geometric Iwasawa theory, as devised by Daqing Wan. We will give a summary of some known results for towers of curves over the affine line. Finally we will describe our new results on the growth of genera in geometric towers of curves over any base curve.
